Interior CS Kithure Kindiki held talks with Public Service Commission chairperson Anthony Muchiri to address the human resource challenges facing the security sector.
In a statement on Monday, Kindiki said the country is experiencing security threats.
He said the threats include armed incursions by al Shabab militant groups in Northern Kenya, cattle rustling in the North Rift, narcotics and illicit alcohol consumption.
The CS said the threats must be stopped immediately for peace and stability to prevail.
"The Interior Ministry carries the weight of the national interest but that is not feasible if the country is perceived to be unsafe," Kindiki said.
He further assured the commission that his ministry will relentlessly fight the security threats to ensure the country is safe and called for enhanced collaboration.
PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri reaffirmed the commission's commitment to working with all government institutions to improve service delivery in the country.
"As a commission, we are open to continuous engagement with all government institutions in all matters of concern within our jurisdiction to ensure the Kenya Kwanza agenda is realised," Muchiri said.
Other leaders present were PSC vice chairperson Charity Kisotu commission secretary Simon Rotich and the director of human resource in the State Department for Interior Benson Githua.
