Mash East Africa, whose bus was involved in a road accident claiming two lives on Sunday morning, has condoled with the affected families.

In the statement issued hours after the accident where at least 20 passengers were injured, the company wished them speedy recovery.

Those injured were rushed to Samburu Subcounty Hospital by the county Ambulance services and well-wishers.

"Two of our clients have sadly died following the accident while others are nursing injuries. We wish all the injured a speedy, healthy recovery and wishes to convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the departed. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un," the statement reads.

The company said the 5:30am accident at Taru area along Nairobi-Mombasa Highway happened after a truck veered off the lane hitting the bus and throwing it off the road.

The bus was heading to Mombasa from Nairobi while the trailer was going in the opposite direction.

In her address on Sunday, area OCPD Lydia Mambo said the two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in the immediate deaths of the two individuals.

She said both the bus and the trailer were speeding and lost control.

Mambo urged motorists to be extra careful as they travel during the festive season to avoid more road tragedies.

"There is no need to rush, drive with caution," the OCPD said.
