A watch party has been organised for specific US-Africa summit proceedings in Nairobi.

This has been made possible by the National Democratic Institute and the Pan African Lawyers Union.

US ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi are expected to grace the event at the Sarova Panafric hotel.

US President Joe Biden is hosting African leaders in the three-day summit, which starts today in Washington, US.

President William Ruto who left the country on Monday is among the keynote speakers.

He will give an address on "The Future of Africa’s Trade and Investment Relations with the US."

“The President will also help advocate for the conclusion of the Kenya Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement and support African countries' to expand US-Africa trade relations through renewal of AGOA,” a statement from Statehouse reads.

The proceedings are set to highlight perspectives from Africa particularly on issues of governance, role of youth in advancing democratic governance, trade and digital transformation in Africa.

The theme of the conference is “Voices from Africa: Perspectives on the Future of US- Africa Relations.”

“The summit will demonstrate the United States’ enduring commitment to Africa. It will underscore the importance of US-Africa relations and increased cooperation on shared global priorities,” a statement from the organisers read.

The summit will also offer an opportunity for African leaders to shape the continent's partnership with the US in trade, economy, security and political relations.
