Kuria holds talks with US Trade representative Tai

They discussed plans to begin expert engagements on expanding bilateral trade

Trade CS Moses Kuria on Tuesday held talks with the US Trade representative Katherine Tai ahead of the US-Africa Leaders Summit.

In a statement Kuria said they discussed plans to begin expert engagements on expanding bilateral trade and inclusion of women and youth in trade.

The CS also said they discussed on expanding the small and medium enterprises as well as advancing the African Continental Free Trade integration.

Tai was accompanied by her deputy ambassador Sarah Bianchi.

"We discussed expectations from the AGOA ministerial meeting that she will be hosting later today with counterparts from AGOA beneficiary countries, senior officials of African regional economic institutions and members of congress," Kuria said.

President William Ruto will also attend the summit.

The US-Africa Leaders' summit is a three-day event happening between December 13 to 15.

The summit offers an opportunity for African leaders to shape the continent's partnership with the US in trade, economy, security and political relations.

The President will help advocate the conclusion of the Kenya Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement and support African countries' to expand US Africa trade relations through renewal of AGOA.

Ruto will also deliver a statement on; "The Future of Africa's Trade and Investment Relations with the US," and address the summit on partnering in Agenda 2063 to a Peaceful and Secure Africa.
