The murder trial of former Migori Governor Okoth Obado is set to resume today.

The same is expected to continue until May 10.

The prosecution has three remaining witnesses before it closes its case.  All three are police officers.

One of them is identified as Sergeant Hassan from Homabay who was in the Investigating Office when the case began.

He had been in possession of most of the exhibits and groundwork details of the case.

He is to be followed by Chief Inspector Ole Sena who will be analysing the data presented by Safaricom.

The third, Chief Inspector Clement Mwangi is the lead Investigating officer in the matter.

In the case, Obado is among those on trial over Sharon’s murder and her unborn baby.

He has been charged alongside his assistant Michael Oyamo and clerk Caspal Obiero over the murder that took place on September 3, 2018, in Homa Bay.

Also at the Anti-Corruption court, a Nairobi businessman Josiah Kariuki is set to appear to take plea in a Sh209 million fertiliser case.

Milimani Anti-corruption magistrate Celesa Okore last week said failure for Kariuki to appear in court will result in the issuance of a warrant of arrest.

Through his lawyers, Kariuki told the court that he was not aware of his required appearance in court on Thursday last week.

He, however, said he was arranging his travel to Nairobi as the country is experiencing floods.

While praying for the court to issue a warrant of arrest, the Director of Public Prosecution claimed that Kariuki was not someone to be trusted as he was called by the investigating officer on Tuesday but switched off his phone.

Kariuki is required in court to plead to the charges on his behalf and the two companies he owns.
