Vihiga Governor-elect Wilber Ottichilo says it’s time to complete what he started as the county boss in his second term.

He has pledged to finalise pending projects while initiating new ones to ensure the county gets the required development.

The governor-elect spoke at his home after being elected for a second-term. He said pending bills and bloated wage bills frustrated his bid to deliver, but now he has time to rectify the mess and deliver for the Vihiga people.

Ottichilo’s administration intends to complete and upgrade Emuhaya hospital in Luanda subcounty, Sabatia Subcounty Hospital and Hamisi Subcounty Hospital from Level 3 to Level 4.

In the agriculture sector, the governor said his administration will construct cold rooms that will help farmers to store their farm produce.

“We have also increased dairy animals in the county of which our milk production is going to increase," Ottichilo said.

"So with that increase, we are also going to increase our milk cooperatives to help our farmers to benefit from the produce.”

The county chief told residents to utilise properly their small pieces of land to ensure they reap big.  He said the Belgium water project will soon come to an end to ensure all county residents get clean water.

In his in-tray, Ottichilo highlighted the construction of a granite factory, waste management factory, EPZ in Hamisi and also the upgrading of Luanda and Hamisi subcounties to municipalities.

“Once we have upgraded the two to municipalities, they will have their own budgets. They will create their own employment to people around and will have their own fire stations and health facilities, among other needed things,” the governor said.

Ottichilo defeated his other four competitors, amongst them, former Governor Moses Akaranga.
