Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo has taken the lead in the ongoing vote count.

Based on provisional results, the incumbent had 76,041 votes by the time of filing this story.

Former Governor Moses Akaranga was second with 37,049 votes while outgoing Senator George Khaniri (UDP) had 26,918 votes.

Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi of ANC had 21,071 votes while former county secretary Francis Ominde had 2,338 votes.

In vihiga constituency Akaranga took the lead with 11,586 while Ottichilo has 9,657.

Agoi was third with 4,000 votes, Khaniri fourth with 3,651 votes while Ominde had 490 votes.

In Hamisi subcounty where Khaniri comes from, he took the lead with 13,957 votes followed by Ottichilo 12,420 and Akaranga 12,310.

Agoi had 5,261 votes while Ominde had 936 votes.

In Luanda constituency Ottichilo took the lead with 21,513 votes followed by Khaniri with 4,249, Akaranga 1,883, Agoi 858 and Ominde 188.

In Emuhaya constituency, where Ottichilo comes from, he had 26,252 votes followed by Khaniri with 2,275, Akaranga 1,120, Agoi 1,021 and Ominde 214.

In Sabatia constituency Akaranga took the lead with 10,150 votes as the incumbent garnered 6,241 votes, followed by Agoi with 9,931 votes.

Khaniri was third with 2,786 votes as Ominde closed the bracket with 510 votes.

Vote tallying was ongoing.
