West Mugirango MP-elect Stephen Mogaka has promised the electorate he will not let them down in delivery of services.

He said a section of leaders have been promising to deliver but are unable to do so when they get to office, compromising the confidence of the electorate.

“This is a new dawn for West Mugirango; it is time to deliver the services that people have been longing for.

"We had given the mantle to some individual who did not meet the expectations of the people but we are here to do what is supposed to be done,” Mogaka said in a phone interview on Monday.

Mogaka of Jubilee won the West Mugirango MP seat after garnering 16,877 votes.

Incumbent Vincent Kemosi of Ford Kenya came third with 15,205 votes while ODM's Rodgers Moturi was second with 16,524 votes.

The city lawyer was declared the winner by the West Mugirango constituency returning officer Sylvia Jebet.

Mogaka made an attempt at the seat in 2017 but narrowly lost to Ford Kenya’s Vincent Kemosi, a newbie then.

He however said he will prioritise the establishment of a kitty that will enable all university students and those in mid-level colleges from West Mugirango to get sponsorship and complete their studies.

Mogaka said he will also fight to ensure the constituency shines with roads, schools, markets and other important development infrastructure.

“When I traverse this country, sometimes I wonder whether we had an MP. Most constituencies in our republic have kilometres of tarmacked roads unlike ours that has none,” he said.

The MP-elect called upon residents of West Mugirango to join him and ensure development in the constituency now that election is over.

“Now that we are done with election, we need to concentrate on developing our great constituency. I call upon everyone to come on board and join me in the development course,” he said.
