Strathmore Leos' George Ooro and Menengai Oilers' speedster Floyd Wabwire will be the Kenya Morans co-captains at the Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.

Ooro was with the Shujaa squad that finished third in the Montevideo leg of the Challenger Sevens Series over the weekend.

Other Morans players who were in Montevideo include Nondies' Ben Salem, Dennis Abukuse (Oilers), Chrisant Ojwang (Nakuru) and Elvis Olukusi (KCB).

Speaking on Tuesday, Kenya Sevens assistant coach Louis Kisia said the team selected is a blend of youth and experience and are ready for Monday's kickoff.

“It's an opportunity to test themselves against quality opposition. Most played at the Safari Sevens in November but have been involved in the Kenya Cup. They are in good shape in form and fitness,” added Kisia.

Kisia said the Shujaa quintet brings experience to the side, which will be vital in the four-day event.

"Oroo and Abukuse have played for Shujaa in the last two seasons. They will mentor some of the younger players — who have never played at that level,” observed Kisia.

The former Leos and Mwamba tactician expects a competitive tournament when rugby returns to the fold after a 36-year hiatus.

“Zimbabwe, Uganda and Madagascar are the teams to watch out for. Generally, the nature of the Sevens game is unpredictable. It has grown on the continent and we will not underestimate any team,” said Kisia.

Morans are in Pool 'A' pooled alongside hosts Ghana, Egypt and a 16th-seed.

They open the tournament against the unknown side and end Day 1 with a clash against Egypt.

Kenya's second-string side will start their tournament against a yet-to-be-determined 16th-seed and wrap up Day One action against Egypt.

They face Ghana on Day Two, which will confirm the knockout pairings.

Morans have been training at Moi Stadium, Kasarani, for ten days and depart for Accra on Wednesday.
