Kenya Morans have been pooled alongside hosts Ghana and Egypt and a 16th-seed in Pool 'A' for the African Games Rugby Sevens scheduled for later this month.

Kenya's second-string side will start their tournament against a yet-to-be-determined 16th-seed and wrap up Day One action against Egypt.

They face Ghana on Day Two, which will confirm the knockout pairings.

Morans are in a residential camp at Moi Stadium, Kasarani, for the next six days before departing on Wednesday. The 12-man travelling squad will be announced early next week.

The rugby competition is scheduled for March 18-21.

On Friday, Kenya Sevens assistant coach Louis Kisia said they will pick some players from Shujaa, currently in Uruguay, to blend with the Morans squad.

“Majority of the players will come from the Morans but we will tweak the squad to give a different look and ensure we have a robust squad that can go all the way and win the title,” observed Kisia.

He said Sevens rugby has grown on the continent and they will not underestimate their opponents.

“It's an open tournament. We know teams have trained well and we have to be at our best to emerge winners,” said Kisia.

The former Strathmore Leos and Mwamba coach does not expect climatic challenges since Ghana is almost similar to what they are experiencing at their team training in Kasarani.

Pool 'B' will feature Uganda, Tunisia, Congo and Togo. Zimbabwe headline Pool 'C' and will face Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Niger. Madagascar will be the team to beat in Pool 'D' and are up against Burkina Faso, Libya and Benin

Rugby returns to the African Games for the first time since the 1987 edition held at Kasarani, where it was used as a demonstration sport.

Zimbabwe edged Madagascar in the final while hosts Kenya were third.
