Samson Omwanza sworn in as LSK male representative to JSC

Omwanza is set to serve for a five-year term effective May 13

Chief Justice Martha Koome on Tuesday presided over the swearing-in of Samson Omwanza Ombati as a new member of the Judicial Service Commission.

Omwanza is the new LSk male representative to the commission replacing Macharia Njeru.

He will hold the position for five years.

The CJ wished Omwanza all the best in his work and asked him to uphold the rule of justice.

"Let the oath continue to guide you in your daily work. It should never depart from you. Be able to defend the rule of law. I wish all the best in your work and God bless you," Koome said.

"We are happy to welcome you to the family. We will work for the good of the people of the country," Koome said.

She added: "I look forward to your energy and passion to make access to justice. Today you join other commissioners of JSC."

Omwanza expressed his gratitude to all who supported him by recognising the presence of Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, lawyers and his family.

Also present was South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro and Commissioner Isaac Ruto.

Omwanza also thanked members of LSK saying they are very passionate about their welfare that's why they are here in numbers.

"I can assure you that these members are here with goodwill," Omwanza said.

"I promise to make sure that I serve Kenyans, JSC and LSK with diligence," he said.

It follows his victory in the LSK election conducted on February 29. He is set to serve for a five-year term effective May 13.

During the LSK polls, Omwanza defeated former society's president Eric Theuri garnering 3,357 votes who got 3,292 votes.
