3x3 women's basketball team eyes podium finish in Tunisia

The Medina Okot-captained-side secured a final four spot after narrowly defeating neighbours Uganda 11-9 on Thursday.

The Kenya 3×3 women's basketball team will be targeting a podium finish when they take on hosts Tunisia in the semifinals at the on-going Africa Beach Games in Hammamet.

The Medina Okot-captained side secured a final four spot after narrowly defeating neighbours Uganda 11-9 on Thursday.

Victory against Tunisia will guarantee Kenya a podium position.

Mary Lisa who has been Team Kenya’s star at the tournament, says they are determined to leave the North African country with a medal. 

“We are delighted to make the semis and we will do our best to get into the medal position,” Lisa said after the match against Uganda.

Lisa managed five points against Uganda as teammate Okot scored the match-winning points.

With scores tied at 9-9 and 4.3secs to play, the Zetech University student was fouled and handed two free throws which she perfectly took to win the match for Kenya.

Meanwhile, the men’s team finished fifth after edging out Benin 13-10 in the ranking match.
