Zetech tactician Benard Kitolo has blamed a blunt strike force for their current relegation woes in the Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League.

Kitolo said that had his strikers been ruthless in front of goal, they would be having nothing to worry about.

"We create numerous chances as a team but have been unable to make them count. This has left us with the goals that we need so much in our quest for points and thus where we are in the red zone," Kitolo said.

The tactician was speaking to the Star on the phone after Wednesday's training session at Gems Cambridge.

Kitolo said he had planned to sign Monicah Etot (Kisumu Starlets) and Martha Karimi (Trans Nzoia) to reinforce his strike force but the two declined the offer.

"Martha Karimi turned down my offer and chose to join Bungoma Queens, who are in Division One, while Monica Etot decided to stay put at Kisumu Starlets," said Kitolo.

Zetech are third from the bottom and are in danger of relegation alongside Kangemi Ladies while Kayole Starlets' fate seems sealed.

Meanwhile, Thika Queens head coach Fred Majani said the absence of WPL top striker Wendy Atieno is being felt, having failed to get maximum points in their last two matches.

"We are really missing Wendy's services. She is the kind of a player who never misses opportunities in front goal," he said. "We drew 2-2 with Bunyore Starlets and 2-2 against Kisumu Starlets."

Wendy was ruled out of the games after suffering a head injury but is still the WPL top scorer with 13 points, followed by Monica Etot of Kisumu Starlets ( 12).

Chris Katch of Thika Queens and Maureen Achieng of Vihiga Queens follow with eight points.
