Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) teams will not be involved in any Kenya National Basketball league matches until after their continental assignment.

While releasing the second leg fixtures, Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) fixtures secretary Joseph Amoko said the regular season ends on January 29.

KPA men's team will be going to Johannesburg, South Africa for the November 22-27 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Elite 16 campaign.

On the other hand, the women's side have a trip to Maputo, Mozambique next month where they will participate in the FIBA Africa Women Club Championship.

Amoko said the ports teams will resume their league action as soon as they finish the two programs.

"We will finish the first leg by end of next January. Soon thereafter, we will tip off the second leg matches," said Amoko.

He added: "The play-offs will start in February. Teams will get a two week break before the start of the new season."

Meanwhile, Africa Nazarene University (ANU) coach Mike Oluoch has warned his charges to focus on the prize now or tumble.

The 'Wolfpacks' who had seven victories in the first leg are now struggling. Their 74-64 loss to Thunder over the weekend is of concern for Oluoch who said they must address how to stem the tide.

The win saw Sadat Gaya's charges leapfrog KPA to the top of the table with 23 points from 13 games. The dockers have 21 points, having played two matches less.

"We had a 15-point lead in the last half and we blew it away just because they boys didn't want to listen to my advice," Oluoch bemoaned.

He went on: "They did not follow instructions and lost focus coupled with many turnovers. It was a close game that we should have won easily but we gave away turnovers in the last quarter."

The loss saw Strathmore University Blades move over ANU to fifth place with 20 points after they pipped Kenyatta University Pirates 59-51.

He revealed that the losses have nothing to do with the absence of one of his key players James Martial who left the country."It's not about him leaving. I have got a player who is ably going to fill that void and we will get results."

Thunder struck ANU 74-64 in overtime. Both teams deadlocked 61-61 before the winners went up 13-3 in the extra five minutes Gaya on the other hand said it took them a long to get into the game, but once they did, they got the result they needed.
