Genga blames lack of experience for Strathmore loss

Lack of experience was University of Nairobi's "Terrorists" main undoing in their Kenya Kenya National Basketball Federation League loss to Strathmore University coach Eugene Genga, has said.

Genga pointed out that the boys from the main campus had no answer to "Blades" physical strength and Darryl Omondi's offensive power. Timid "Terrorists" crushed to a 66-52 defeat in a match played at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium on Sunday.

"They are bigger and more athletic than us and we could neither box out nor rebound well. Darryl gave us a lot of problems. And we discussed all this during our trainings the whole of last week," Genga noted.

Genga said that their performance in the last half was impressive since they had settled but 'Strath' had build a strong lead.

"In the last quarter, we settled down and did play better but the game was already beyond us and we could not us."

In other matches, former women champions Equity Bank Hawks had little problems whipping Eldonets 78-24. It was a fruitful weekend for Equity Bank as they also beat University of Nairobi 'Dynamites" 50-32.

The two weekend victories moved Hawks to second on 18 points the same as Storms who are third. Unbeaten KPA are tops with 22."We are not where we want to be. We need commitment from all players so that we can all play at one level." Said bankers coach David Maina.

"We will need to improve on our defense going forward and win all our second leg games to move to the top. "Joyce Adongo led Hawks scoring tally with 14 points the same as Roxanne Netechu for the Eldoret side.

Eldonets tactician, James Ndungu noted, "We have had a poor weekend because we have not trained as a team for about two months. I missed my experienced players due to commitments and I am only using new players. If we practice together we will fine."

Hawks also blanked University of Nairobi 'Dynamites" 50-32 the previous day with Cynthia Mawero hitting 11 points. Strathmore University Swords had a strong 49-15 last quarter charge as they dismantled Eldonets 76-35.

In Kisumu, Africa Nazarene University (ANU) teams had mixed results with the men hitting Lakeside 53-46.The women side on the other hand suffered a set back going down 70-69 in over time to Lady Bucks.
