Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has ordered CBC classrooms under construction in Bungoma to be completed by Sunday.

Magoha spoke in Webuye on Thursday during the inspection of CBC classrooms at St Matthew’s ACK Secondary School.

The CS lauded education stakeholders in Bungoma for ensuring the new curriculum is successfully adopted.

He urged them to put in more efforts to ensure the classrooms under construction are completed.

Magoha said Bungoma is still behind in the construction of the classrooms while other counties are already done with the project.

“Reports show that Bungoma has completed the construction of the CBC classrooms but that's not reflected on the ground,” Magoha said.

According to statistics, 316 CBC classrooms are still under construction in the entire county. This is a bigger number compared to most counties in the country.

Magoha said nothing shall stop him from ensuring all the classrooms are completed before the end of the week.

“We have held a consultative meeting with all education stakeholders and we have agreed that we shall complete the classrooms in Bungoma by Sunday next week,” Magoha said.

He said all the necessary requirements for the completion were released by the national government before the beginning of term one in April.

The CS cited West Pokot county, which is only left with five classrooms to be completed by the end of the week.

Magoha urged the contractors and school heads to work closely in ensuring the project is successful in the highly populated county.

“To attain 100 per cent transition we should make sure all classrooms are completed within the deadline,” Magoha said.

Magoha asked the county commissioner and county director of education Philip Chirchir to give him a daily report on the classrooms progress.

He added that he will make impromptu visits to check on the projects.
