Female police officer allegedly murdered by husband in Bungoma

A female police officer has allegedly been brutally murdered by her husband in Bungoma in what detectives have linked to a domestic dispute.

The 30-year-old was attached to the Kiwanja police post of Nairobi's Kahawa West police station.

Reports indicate that she was off duty to attend the burial of her grandmother at Misemwa village in Webuye East when the incident occurred.

According to a report filed at Mbakalo police station, the matter was reported by the elder brother of the suspect.

Officers who visited the scene found the lifeless body inside their house with multiple wounds.

"The deceased's body was found lying dead on the bed with several deep cuts on the neck and multiple injuries on the head," reads part of the report.

It is suspected to have been inflicted by a sharp object.

The suspect, a 40 year old has since been arrested. Police say he surrendered himself after committing the crime.

A panga believed to have been used in the incident was also recovered from the scene.

The body of the deceased was moved to Lugulu Mission Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting postmortem.

Detectives probing the matter say they intend to prefer murder charges against the suspect as they dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding the horrifying incident.
