Former Senator Millicent Omanga has said the country is ready for a female president come 2032.

Through her social media on Saturday, Omanga said Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika would be the best pick as first female president when that time comes.

"We believe that the country is ready for a woman president in 2032 and the best candidate for the office is Governor Susan Kihika. It's doable!," Omanga said.

She said women have made tremendous contribution to the progress of this country and have displayed exceptional leadership prowess in various fields.

The first female to ever run for the top seat was former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.

She unsuccessfully vied to be president in 1997 but lost to late President Daniel arap Moi who retained the seat.

In 2013, Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua also vied to be president but lost to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Karua also became the first female Deputy President running-mate when she joined forces with ODM party leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 general election under the Azimio Coalition.

In latest succession politics, a section of Mt Kenya MPs in January threw there support behind Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro to succeed President William Ruto in 2032.

The group led by Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu have since rescinded the resolve and vowed to unconditionally support Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking in Murang'a on Saturday, Muriu said the people of Murang'a will rally behind Gachagua and Ruto.

"A lot has been said but I want to assure you that the people of Murang'a are fully behind you," Muriu told the DP.

He was speaking during a fundraiser at Bishop Gatimu Kinyona Girls where Gachagua and Nyoro were also in attendance.

Nyoro said he is ready to support the government towards the realisation of its development agenda.

"I will support you and President William Ruto unconditionally,"Ndindi said.
