Gatanga member of parliament Edward Muriu has announced support for the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking in Murang'a on Saturday, Muriu said that the people of Murang'a will rally behind him and President William Ruto

He said that they will support the government of the day to realise development agendas.

"A lot has been said but I want to assure you that the people of Murang'a are fully behind you," Muriu said.

The MP alongside area senator Joe Nyutu had claimed that the Murang'a people would rally behind Kiharu Mp Ndindi Nyoro.

Muriu noted that the people of Murang'a also have the right to raise a leader.

This raised a political temperature across the central region with a section of leaders claiming an underhand to frustrate Gachagua.

Kiharu Mp Ndindi Nyoro would later clarify the situation maintaining his support for the deputy and the president.

Also speaking during the event, Muragua MP Mary Maua urged leaders to unite and stop fighting each other.

She noted that Gachagua is the region's highly-ranked politician.

"Ndindi Nyoro, we see you as Murang'a star and we love you but for now Gachagua is our leader," Maua said.
