Gachagua joins artists in performing Mau Mau 'anthem'

With other leaders, the DP sang his heart out to the 'Mwene Nyaga'.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua on Saturday joined a Gikuyu artiste in performing 'MauMau' song during the funeral service of Mama Mukami Kimathi. 

Joined by other leaders, the DP sang his heart out to the 'Mwene Nyaga'

"Tukona anthem yetu ya Mau Mau, Kijana wetu Kwame atatuongoza kwa anthem ya Mau Mau," he said. 

(We have a Mau Mau anthem, our son Kwame will lead us with the anthem).

Gachagua further thanked President William Ruto for recognising Mama Mukami and giving her a state funeral in appreciation to her service to the country.

"On behalf of the Mau Mau people and their children, we say thank you," he added.

He has also stated that the former governments never recognised the country's forefathers.

"The government of President William has catered for all the funeral expenses." 

Gachagua thanked ODM Leader Raila Odinga's father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga for his resilience and fighting for the people of Kenya. 

"We also want to that the father of the former Prime Minister for all he did to fight for the freedom fighters and their land,''

''As you fight for the country we also want to fight for the Mau Mau  landless whose land was grabbed by home guards and you know them.''

The DP also said before the government could buy land, those with their land should return even half.
