President William Ruto has announced an initiative for displaced households in Nairobi, stating that each household will receive Sh10,000 to secure alternative accommodation.

During his visit to Mathare on Monday, Ruto assured that the government has identified all displaced households and will ensure they receive financial assistance for rent over the next three months.

"Every household of the 40,000 households that have been displaced in Nairobi County, will be paid Sh10,000 so that they can find alternative accommodation as we plan for their future as a government so that every Kenyan has a home and a place to call home," Ruto said.

The Head of State assured that he will make sure the money is not misused and that it reaches the residents.

"The corrupt and thieves, mambo yao ni matatu."

Ruto also assured flood victims in Mathare that his administration will support them.

The President said the government is committed to ensuring that each affected family has enough food.

He said the government has set aside funds to provide them with food supplies.

"The government will stand with you. Hakuna mwananchi atalala njaa, hakuna mtoto atalala njaa. Tumeweka pesa ya kutosha ya kununua chakula ya kila mtu ameathirika hapa nairobi na Kenya mzima..." Ruto said.

This loosely translates to, "No one will sleep hungry. No child will sleep hungry. We have enough money to buy food for everyone who has been affected by floods in Nairobi and the entire country."

The President toured the Kiamaiko area where he addressed locals assuring them of government support.
