Three former Governors are among the 48 individuals who will on Thursday face Public Service Commission (PSC) panel for the chief administrative secretary post interviews.

The interviews enter their second day Thursday.

Also appearing alongside the former county bosses James Ongwae who served as the Kisii Governor, Hussein Dado (Tana River) and John Mruttu (Taita Taveta) are Purity Ngirici, Millicent Omanga, Anani Mwaboza and Nicholas Gumbo.

The politicians, all close allies of President William Ruto, are seeking a lifeline after their failed bids in the 2022 general elections.

During the Kenya Kwanza campaigns in the lead-up to the polls, Ruto assured his lieutenants who supported him that they will be rewarded something that is slowly becoming a headache to him.

While some have already been appointed to various positions in government, several others are still waiting to reap.

Also to face the panel today is journalist Linda Ogutu.

In September last year, following the declaration of the presidential results, Ongwae led a delegation of Kisii and Nyamira leaders to meet Ruto at his Karen residence in what they termed as "partnership" talks.

"As a community, we are ready to work with the President-elect," he said.

Dado, the former CAS lost his bid to bounce back as a governor in the last election to Dhado Ghodana.

On Wednesday, a similar number of candidates appeared for the interviews being conducted at the PSC offices.

The exercise is set to end on March 7.

PSC has said it will forward the names of successful candidates to the President next week.

"In the next two to three days after the conclusion of this process next week we shall forward the names of suitable individuals," said PSC chair Anthony Muchiri.
