Leaders from Kiambu County on Sunday afternoon called for unity to achieve faster development in the region and the entire country.

They spoke at PCEA Nyarugumu in Kabete during the thanksgiving service for Principal Secretary, State Department of Roads Eng. Joseph Mungai Mbugua.

Led by Governor Kimani Wamatangi, all the 12 elected MPs in Kiambu County attended the event and they pledged to support the current administration to enhance service delivery.

Among those present includes Karungo wa Thangw'a(senator), Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete), Mburu Kahangara (Lari), Ng'ang'a Kingara (Ruiru), Alice Ng'ang'a (Thika), John Kiragu (Limuru), Njuguna Wanjiku (Kiambaa), George Koimburi (Juja) among others.

Kiambu governor Wamatangi urged leaders to work together and support each other.

Wamatangi said the refined Kiambu People’s Manifesto will inform the development of the County Integrated Development Plan 2022-27, budget prioritization, and most of the county policy documents.

The governor revealed that his administration will accelerate electricity last-mile connections in Kiambu’s rural areas as well as an upgrade on rural roads in collaboration with the ministry of roads.

“I will work with all elected leaders across the County and ensure that development projects will be launched in their representative constituencies and at the ward level,’ Wamatangi said.

The governor further maintained that both executive and the legislature on the County level will work together.

Wamatangi and Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) reached a truce last week and promised to work together to enhance service delivery.

“I underscored our commitment to work together as the County Executive and County Assembly to ensure we deliver for the people of Kiambu, “Wamatangi said.

National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa called on all leaders to work together and support the Wamatangi administration.

Ichungwa further rallied Kenyans to support the Kenya Kwanza administration noting that president Ruto means well for the people of Mount Kenya.

“When it comes to serving people, let's do it with humanity as our president Ruto has taught us and this administration will deliver as per the people's expectation," he said.

Kiambu senator Karungo Thangw’a also urged elected leaders to work and fulfil the campaign promises they had promised his people.

Political analyst Albert Kasembeli has told the Star that the coming together of Kiambu leaders signified the start of a new dawn.

He said that the Kiambu governor should always seek the leaders' opinions and always work with them on development matters.

“Kiambu leaders pledging loyalty to Wamatangi was a good move and Wamatangi should cultivate such gesture by always working with them without sideshow,” Kasembeli said.

He also called on MCAs to always end their unnecessary demands from the executive team in the County.

He cited the Meru assembly and their governor who have agreed to work together for the sake of development.
