Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda has called on supporters of Azimio leader Raila Odinga to embrace President William Ruto.

The third term lawmaker said that Kalenjins and Luos have their roots in South Sudan and as such, they are brothers.

"President Ruto is our brother from South Sudan. They came through Turkana and settled in the Rift Valley as we came through Uganda before settling here in Nyanza," Ochanda said.

While pointing out that Raila himself has come to terms with this fact, it's time the region, which overwhelming voted for the ODM leader, accepted that Ruto is the president.

"I can confidently state that this far, even Jakomwa (our chairperson -Raila) knows (that Ruto is the president). He (Raila) said that we went to court and it was not good but court had made a verdict. The court validated the election of Ruto," Ochanda said.

The legislator added that in politics, whoever is declared winner is the victor.

"Once someone is inside then that is the winner. He could enter through the space on the upper part of the wall but once inside then that is the man."

The MP elaborated that even in a football match, one could score a goal using his hands but if the referee fails to see it then it is counted as a goal.

"Let us not be disgruntled further than this. Elections are over, let us work with President Ruto," Ochanda said.
