Wamuchomba absent as Gachagua meets Kiambu MPs

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with Kiambu leadership at his Karen residence.

The meeting was to take stock of the progress of the government projects and discuss how the leaders can work together to promote the national government agenda.

Speaking about the meeting, Gachagua said consulting with leaders is key in identifying priority areas in development.

“This afternoon, I held a working lunch with Members of Parliament from Kiambu County at the  Official Residence in Karen, Nairobi. Our discussions were centred on development projects and programmes, ”he said.

The meeting included MPs Alice Ng'ang'a (Thika Town), Gabriel Kagombe (Gatundu South), George Koimburi (Juja), Simon King'ara (Ruiru), John Waithaka (Kiambu), John Wanjiku (Kiambaa), James Kamau Wamacukuru (Kabete), and Joseph Kihangara (Lari).

Senator Karungo Thang'wa and Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha also attended.

Speaking to Star, Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang'wa explained that the meeting aimed to discuss the government agenda, development, and unity among leaders in the county.

He clarified that the meeting was exclusively for MPs in the county.

"The deputy president Rigathi Gachagua invited us for a meeting for MPs to outline their projects in their constituencies, and to put the record straight. The meeting wasn’t about discussing individuals but the projects," Karungo said.

Notably, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza government was not present during the consultative meeting.

She was yet to respond to the Star's queries concerning her absence from the meeting.

Karungo highlighted that elected leaders agreed to promote unity, advocate for the government's agenda, and work as a team, similar to their collaboration during the last general election campaign.

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wah, through his social media account, clarified that the primary objective of the meeting was to collaboratively identify and prioritise key development areas for the county.

He emphasized the focus on achieving a shared vision for the overall well-being and prosperity of Kiambu residents.

"In the spirit of unity and shared purpose, the forum reaffirmed its collective commitment to work harmoniously for the betterment of the region. The resolution underscores our dedication to serving the people of Kiambu as our topmost priority in terms of efficient and impactful service delivery," Ichung'wah said.
