A group of Murang’a leaders has expressed their endorsement for Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro to serve as the deputy to President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.

Spearheaded by Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, these leaders contend that Ruto's prospects for re-election could face challenges if Rigathi Gachagua is maintained as his deputy.

Senator Nyutu highlighted the importance of Murang’a’s recognition in national politics, advocating for Ndindi Nyoro as a preferable choice over Gachagua, who is believed to hold negative sentiments towards the residents of Murang’a.

Nyutu claimed that Gachagua's divisive behavior and expressed concerns that such a choice might negatively impact Ruto's chances in the region.

"We will request Ruto to choose a young person from Murang’a who is Ndindi Nyoro; Gachagua has lost his ground, treating people disrespectfully, including elected leaders," Nyutu stated.

Highlighting the need for fairness and accountability, Nyutu insisted that the nomination process for the 2027 election should be impartial, without special privileges for any individual.

Gatanga MP Edward Muriu further emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of Murang’a's mothers, advocating for the selection of a youthful candidate like Ndindi Nyoro.

He underlined the historical and cultural significance of Murang’a as the ancestral home of the Kikuyu community and called for due respect and recognition for the sons and daughters of the region.

"The women of Murang’a also give birth to leaders, and Ndindi Nyoro is qualified enough to deputize Ruto and become a leader," Muriu affirmed.

Muriu noted that many leaders are supporting Ndindi as a potential candidate for the position.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria echoed this sentiment during a memorial service, urging Mount Kenya leaders to mentor young leaders like Ndindi Nyoro instead of subjecting them to political opposition.

"We should support the young leaders in Mount Kenya, and thus Ndindi Nyoro should not be fought," Kuria remarked.

Ndindi Nyoro, a close ally of President William Ruto, has frequently been mentioned as a potential candidate for the 2032 presidential bid from Mount Kenya.
