On Tuesday, Kalonzo chaired the Wiper party's National Executive Council meeting at the headquarters in Karen at a time when he revealed plans to go for the country's top seat.

On Sunday, a section of Ukambani leaders urged Kalonzo to traverse the country and campaign for the presidency.

The leaders said they will aggressively campaign for Kalonzo's presidential bid.

Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa has declared interest in the presidential 2027 race.

Wamalwa on Saturday revealed that the only two positions he is yet to hold are Deputy President and President.

"I believe I'm sufficiently prepared and experienced to lead this country and I have already been endorsed by my party for the presidency," Wamalwa said during an interview on NTV

"I am in the process of preparing for my presidential beat."

Wamalwa also highlighted that the DAP-K party is in the process of carrying out a membership recruitment drive to strengthen the party at the grassroots.

He said that the party will soon hold grassroots elections and will eventually have a national delegates meeting to ratify his presidential bid.

Looking back, the former CS explained that he had defied his dream of running for presidency since 2013 but has been biding his time serving this country in various key positions.
