Politicians have started early campaign and lobbying talks,  three years ahead of the 2027  General Elections.

Yatta MP Robert Basil on Monday suggested that a presidential ticket of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro would work best for Kenya.

"Ndindi Nyoro is a man I would welcome into our side to work with Kalonzo if we paired with Kalonzo's running mate that would be an easy win," he said on K24

Basil claimed that there was a fallout within the Mt Kenya leaders over the 2027 succession and now he wants Nyoro to join the opposition.

"We are inviting Nyoro to come to our side and join forces with Kalonzo. That's the presidency Kenyans should have in 2027," he said.

The Yatta legislator added that Kenyans need leaders who can take the country to a better level.

"It is time for Kenyans to choose sober leaders who can serve Kenyans and for that, we recommend that pair of Kalonzo and Nyoro to lead the country," Basil said.

Over the weekend, some Ukambani leaders urged Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka to traverse the country and campaign for the presidency.

The politicians said the former vice-president is ripe for the country's top job, insisting that 2027 will be his time.

They vowed to aggressively campaign for Kalonzo's presidential bid.

Still last week, a group of Murang’a leaders expressed their endorsement for Kiharu Member of Parliament Nyoro to serve as the deputy to President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.

Spearheaded by Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, the leaders contend that Ruto's prospects for re-election could face challenges if Rigathi Gachagua is maintained as his deputy.

Senator Nyutu highlighted the importance of Murang’a’s recognition in national politics, advocating for Nyoro as a preferable choice over Gachagua.

"We will request Ruto to choose a young person from Murang’a who is Ndindi Nyoro; Gachagua has lost his ground, treating people disrespectfully, including elected leaders," Nyutu said.

Highlighting the need for fairness and accountability, Nyutu insisted that the nomination process for the 2027 election should be impartial, without special privileges for any individual.

Gatanga MP Edward Muriu further emphasized the importance of recognising the contributions of Murang’a's mothers, advocating for the selection of a youthful candidate like Nyoro.

He underlined the historical and cultural significance of Murang’a as the ancestral home of the Kikuyu community and called for due respect and recognition for the sons and daughters of the region.

"The women of Murang’a also give birth to leaders, and Ndindi Nyoro is qualified enough to deputise Ruto and become a leader," Muriu affirmed.
