Police have arrested two suspects linked to armed robberies in at least five counties.

In a statement on Wednesday, police said they recovered two guns linked to various robberies in Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Murang'a and Kajiado counties.

"We arrested one suspect who has been on the run for the past few days along Limuru road as he escaped with his family from the city to his rural home in Dundori, Nyandarua County," police said.

Police intercepted a Mitsubishi canter registration number KAM 231J, that was ferrying the suspect, his family members and their belongings to Nyandarua.

And after police from the DCI headquarters stopped the lorry, he confessed saying he was carrying the two Czeska pistols loaded with 14 bullets.

He revealed that he had two pistols which were inside a bag which was amongst the household items being transported.

"After conducting a search in the vehicle, a Czeska pistol serial number B022944 with a magazine loaded with two rounds of 9mm ammunition and a CZ P-07 pistol serial number C626319 with a magazine loaded with 12 rounds of 9mm calibre were recovered."

Police said the guns have been linked to various incidents where victims have lost money immediately after making transactions in banks.

The two suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated in relation to their crimes, before being arraigned in court on Thursday.

The motor vehicle was escorted to police in Nairobi Area offices.

The lorry crew, his wife and son were released as police detained the vehicle.

Police say they are looking for more suspects in the saga.

Director of Criminal Investigation Mohamed Amin said the arrests will solve many pending cases.

“We are looking for more suspects in this saga to ensure justice to various victims,” he said.
