Police in Teso are investigating an incident in which an elderly man was killed and his body dumped outside a toilet within his compound.

The genitals of 68-year-old Francis Maasai had blood stains at the time the body was discovered, Kamolo sublocation assistant chief Mathew Ikwara told the Star on the phone.

The deceased’s neck also had blood stains, Ikwara said.

The local administrator said the bruises on the neck signified that the old man may have struggled with his killers before he was overpowered.

Police who spoke to the Star said the man lived alone.

The body was picked by officers from Malaba police station at 10am, Malaba OCS George Ouka said.

Police said it took long to discover the man’s demise because no one lived with him.

The body is preserved at the Kocholya Level Four Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

"I received a phone call in the morning that a body of an elderly man had been found,” Ikwara said on the phone.

“I went to the incident scene and found the old man had been killed. His private parts and neck had blood stains.”

The incident happened at Kamuria village in Kamolo sublocation.

Ikwara said such incidents are rear in his sublocation.

He called on residents to maintain peace.

Residents with differences, he said, should report their cases to authorities which are mandated to settle disputes.

Ikwara said residents who will take the law unto their hands will be dealt with, legally.

By the time The Star filed this story, no one had been arrested in connection with the incident.
