Body of woman who drowned in Canada arrives in Kenya

The family members accompanied Wendy’s body back home.

The body of the late Hellen Wendy Nyabuto who died in Ontario, Canada after she drowned arrived in the country on Saturday.

Her body arrived aboard the Ethiopian Airlines at 1.05 pm (EAT) ahead of her burial in Kisii, set for October 3.

Wendy drowned on August 18, 2022 as she live-streamed herself swimming on Facebook.

Wendy’s parents and other family members on September 27 travelled to Canada and visited the swimming where she died.

The family members accompanied Wendy’s body back home.

Hellen Wendy, whose Facebook profile indicates that she was a nurse living in Toronto, Ontario was in a jovial mood moments before the tragedy.

"Nimetoka job, I'm feeling good," she said moments after she went live.

On September 4, Kenyans in Canada relived memories of Wendy.

Her memorial service was held at the Toronto Swahili Seventh Day Adventist community church, where hundreds turned up to bid farewell to the young soul.

Wendy's family in Kenya at Bomachoge Chache village in Kisii county followed the proceedings via a video link.
