Thousands arrive in Othaya for Kibaki’s burial service

Food items and water have been banned from the premise.

Members of the public have started arriving at the Othaya Approved School for the Former President Mwai Kibaki’s funeral service in Othaya, Nyeri County.

It is reported that some people arrived at the venue as early as 5a.m

Food items and water have been banned from the premise.

The late president’s body left Lee Funeral home in Nairobi at exactly 7 a.m. and it is expected to arrive at 10 a.m.

The funeral planning committee is prepared to host more than 15,000 mourners.

Kibaki will be laid to rest at his Othaya Home in a private ceremony and not all mourners will be accommodated at the residence.

Security has been beefed up at the School with strict security screening being conducted on members of the public who are arriving for the burial ceremony to ensure a smooth ceremony.

Ahead of Saturday’s burial, a State funeral service was held on Friday at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
