Almost 1.2 million students who sat their KCPE will receive their results next week.

Education CS George Magoha said the marking of KCPE is almost done, with only three subjects left.

“The four to five days will be for Kiswahili, Insha and Social Studies so we are still working on some time next week. Any time between Wednesday and Saturday,” he said.

The release of KCPE results will be dependent on the availability of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The CS spoke on Thursday at Kayole South Secondary where he commissioned a CBC classroom.

Magoha dismissed claims of leakage, saying the only threat is early exposure of the papers.

He said early exposure of exams will be curbed through the multi-agency approach that has seen three state agencies come together.

The agencies include CS Fred Matiang'i's Interior Affairs, Magoha's Education and CS Joe Mucheru's ICT.

This year’s national examinations are taken through five layers of security before reaching the students.

“To impute that the exam has been leaked means that the exam has been reached before the examination is released from the container and we all know that is not true,” Magoha said.

The CS said this threat caused a reduction of time in which school heads possess the papers before giving the candidates.

“We have reduced the time from 6 to 6.30 am, so that we reduce the lag time to less than half an hour,” he said.

Magoha said most early exposure incidences occur after the examination has started.

“Anyone with a cell phone has the time that it was posted there so please stop confusing the children and scaring them. This exam has not leaked and it shall not be leaked,” Magoha said.

He warned stakeholders who might have found access to the papers early enough before exams started.

“We are Kenyans and I think certain members in our team must have collected money before the exam. The only window they have is between the container and the exam,” he said.

On Friday, KCSE candidates will take Chemistry practicals.

Subcounty directors and deputy county commissioners will be required to open exam containers at the designated time.

They will then distribute the materials to various exam centers without delegating their duty.

The exam materials will then be handed over to centre managers in person, escorted by armed police officers.
