Former Kakamega Governor has addressed viral photos circulating on social media platforms of him with a woman named Mary Biketi.

In a video posted on Facebook, Oparanya said the photos are genuine, but wondered why someone chose to circulate them.

"Those are very genuine photos. I don't know why someone would waste time trying to circulate them. It's unfortunate whoever took the photos leaked to the press," he said.

He added that he was struggling to understand the interest people have in relation to the photo, saying they are decent.

At the same time, he refuted claims that he had been hospitalised.

Oparanya said he has a family that needs his protection, stating that any fake news is hurting them.

"I have a big family to protect so those sending out fake news should stop. Here I am, I am able to speak, I have no problem. I have been in Mombasa for a few days meeting my people from my own community," he added.

The subject photos are of Oparanya and a woman identified as Mary Biketi.
