ODM leader Raila Odinga has warned law enforcers to stop unnecessary harassment of boda boda operators.

This comes days after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a national crackdown.

"A boda boda is not a licence to strip a woman. There should never be a repeat of what happened on Friday. This is a blight on the whole Kenyan society,” President Kenyatta said when he ordered the crackdown.

Uhuru said he knows some people will try to politicise the issue and claim the government is hurting small business people in the country.

The former Prime minister warned against blanket condemnation of riders in the country.

While condemning the Forest Road incident where a female motorist was assaulted, he cautioned against making innocent riders pay for the sin of others.

Raila said there are only few bad apples in the sector which provides opportunities to thousands young people in the country.

According to the ODM leader, those involved in the heinous incident should be made to face the law.

The Azimio leader was speaking on Thursday during an Azimio rally in Maua, Meru county where he drummed support for his Azimio La Umoja movement ahead of the launch on Saturday.

He was accompanied by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and National Assembly Majority Whip Maoka Maore.

The leaders asked Raila to address miraa problems, a stimulant which is the mainstay of the region.
