President William Ruto on Thursday officially inaugurated the Turkana Cultural Festival.

After opening the ceremony, the President took his time to  blend in with the Turkana culture.'

The Head of State entered into a manyatta and drank porridge from a calabash using a wooden mwiko.

The President then took a moment to interact with the elderly women who prepared the porridge.

Away from his suits, ties and preferred Kaunda suits, the Head of State donned the  Turkana traditional attire, in full gear. 

He covered his neck with a white cloth and styled up with a red necklace made of beads 'Maasai shanga'.

On his head, he had a 'hat' made of long feathers surrounded by other beautiful jewellery.

Ruto was also holding a Maasai rungu which almost every Maasai man walks with and sometimes they use it when dancing. 

He finished his outfit with Maasai 'akalas' shoes.
