The decision by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to join DP Ruto, paved the way for other Luhya leaders to unite under Azimio, Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said.

Oparanya said the two were a stumbling block in attempts to unite other Luhya leaders.

He urged leaders to be united to enjoy the fruits of Azimio after ODM boss Raila Odinga wins the presidential elections.

He spoke in Trans Nzoia during the burial of Jotham Khisa Nyukuri.

Nyukuri was until his death a member of the ODM board of trustees.

Oparanya said he had traversed the whole country and residents have agreed to support Raila’s presidential bid.

He said that Luhya’s should walk together.

“If we are united and ask for development from the government, it will be granted with ease,” Oparanya said.

He said Wetang’ula and Mudavadi made their move to support Ruto’s bid.

“If they decided to join Kenya Kwanza it’s for their good, all Luhya’s are behind Raila’s bid,” Oparanya said.

He said many parties including DAP-K, are supporting the Azimio la Umoja movement.

Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa said Trans Nzoia residents have been neglected citing poor health services.

“We gave Ford Kenya a chance to serve but looks seems like they have failed. I appeal to you to support the former regional commissioner George Natembeya to take that position,” Eugene said.
