Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga has told President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop imposing Raila Odinga on Kenyans.
The MP has asked the Head of State to remain neutral and give Kenyans a chance to choose who will succeed him in the August 9, polls.
“Kenya Kwanza has asked Uhuru Kenyatta to leave Raila Odinga for us. We want to show them that we will lead the nation after August polls,” Mwambu said.
Speaking at the Lwanja area, West Bukusu ward in Bumula constituency on Monday, Mwambu said he is certain deputy president William Ruto will beat Raila.
"I want to clearly tell Raila that Ruto will beat him hands down. Let him stop attacking Ruto on every occasion. Please ask Raila to come and tell us what he will do for Kenyans if elected the president," he said.
Mwambu rubbished the move by the Azimio la Umoja team to front Jack Wamboka as his competitor in the August 9, polls.
"Last week the Azimio team was here in Bumula for a rally, I listened to them, but I found that they had no agenda for Bumula residents," he said.
Mwambu also weighed on the recent defection of Sirisia MP John Waluke to the Jubilee party.
Waluke had been serving as UDA Bungoma County chairman but last week, he went back to Jubilee on whose ticket he was elected on in 2017.
“We will see the name they will brand Waluke after all accusations that he is a thief,” he said.
On her part, Bungoma woman representative Nancy Kibaba who was present at the event urged residents to elect her for the position of the woman MP saying she will deliver her best.
She added that if given the chance to serve as a woman MP, she will support teenage mothers’ access to education.
Kibaba who decamped from the Azimio la Umoja team said Raila's agenda is not good for the country.
Nancy Kibaba will go into nomination with Maria Nato and former teacher and KUPPET treasurer Rebecca Masibayi who are eyeing UDA party ticket for the seat.
