Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula has said Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka will restore order in Bungoma if he is elected governor.

“We want order in Bungoma and resources to be distributed equally to all constituencies so residents benefit from devolution,” he said.

He urged Bungoma residents to vote for Lusaka to help him recapture the seat he lost in 2017.

Wetang'ula spoke at his Namuyemba home on Saturday when he received defectors from ODM party.

Lusaka on Friday joined Ford Kenya.

Speaking at Bungoma Posta grounds, Lusaka said he decided to run for the seat on the Ford Kenya ticket after residents appealed to him to take up the governor's position so he could revamp the county's economy.

Lusaka said if elected, he will ensure that small-scale farmers get affordable farm inputs to improve production and put more cash into their pockets.

“I have been visiting this county almost every weekend to listen to  residents and they asked me to come and take over the county leadership, I want to assure you that I'm in Ford Kenya and optimistic that I'll take over as governor,” he said.

Lusaka said that when he was governor, the county used to receive Sh6 billion, which his administration utilised well.

He also said that during his tenure, his administration used to award small businesses trade loans to aid their expansion.

Lusaka promised to eradicate corruption in the county government if elected, so residents benefit fully from devolution.

“Devolution came to save and benefit our people, I will fight corruption in my administration and ensure that Bungoma is at par with other developed counties,” Lusaka said.

Wetang’ula, who endorsed Lusaka to run for the seat, said Kenya Kwanza has been campaigning across the country and all counties are behind Deputy President William Ruto to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“When DP Ruto was away with other Kenya Kwanza leaders, I toured the whole country seeking votes and I want to assure you that Kenya Kwanza will win the elections,” he said.

Wetang’ula urged the government to take stern action against ODM leader Raila Odinga following his madoadoa remark while on a rally in Wajir county.

“Raila Odinga should be arrested following his madoadoa remark. The law should be applied fairly,” he said.

Other leaders present in the Bungoma rally include Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga, Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga, Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga, Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and more than 40 MCAs from Bungoma county assembly.
