North Rift governors have nominated women to head powerful dockets in their county cabinets as MCAs start vetting the executives.

Most of the governors also have women as their deputies.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya leads the way after he appointed four women among his ten executives to be vetted by the county assembly.

His deputy governor is Philemona Binea Kapkori.

Natembea has nominated Janerose Nasimiyu Mutama  from Kiminini  subcounty to be executive for Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The governor also picked Julie Kichwen Ruto from  Cherangany subcounty to head the Education and Technical Training docket.

Also in Natembeya's list is Phanice Naliaka Khatundi from Trans Nzoia West  subcounty will be in charge of the Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock and Fisheries docket.

Natembeya also picked 28-year-old Chanella Kittony, daughter of Nairobi Stock Exchange chairman Kiprono Kittony to head the Gender, Youth, Sports and Culture docket.

Natembea also named Truphosa Irene Awour Otwala to be the Trans Nzoia secretary.

In Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, Governor Wesley Rotich named three female executives to his team, including Emmy Kosgey from Marakwet West who will take the Roads and Public Works docket.

Monicah Rotich from Marakwet West was named executive for Public Service and Devolution. Purity Koima from Keiyo South takes the Sports and youth docket.

In Nandi county where Governor Stephen Sang retained Dr Yulita Mitei as his deputy, the reelected county boss also re-appointed Ruth Koech to the health docket.

Scolastica Tuwei was also nominated by Governor Sang to head Education, Sports, Culture and Youth. She has been the chief officer for Education and Vocational Training.

Governor Jonathan Bii of Uasin Gishu nominated Janet Kosgei to head the Education and Technical training docket while Engineer Martha Jeruto was nominated to head the Trade and Industrialization docket.

Bii also nominated Engineer Lucy Ngendo to head the Youth and Sports docket.

Just as in the nominations for MCA slots in the region, people with disabilities were not nominated to the county executives committee, causing an outcry from their representatives.

“The list of county executives is just a start because we will ensure that various groups are represented in the other positions we will be filling up soon,” Bii said.
