Rachael Otundo, the only woman aspirant in the Kisii gubernatorial contest has ditched UDA and joined PPK party.

Otundo said despite the challenges she has been undergoing in the political field, she will never give up.

On Tuesday, Otundo said big parties should be ready for surprises as a majority of aspirants have moved to small parties.

“I am not going to give up at any moment. I will be in the race to the end,” he said.

Last month, UDA picked Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu as their flagbearer to succeed Governor James Ongwae.

Otundo said she will soon announce her running mate from Bomachoge where Deputy Governor Joash Maangi hails from.

Maangi has since dropped his governorship ambition and will be seeking the senate seat.

Otundo will face nine candidates in the race.

They include former Transport CAS Chris Obure, Senator Sam Ongeri, KNC leader Manson Nyamweya,  MP Simba Arati(Dagoreti North), Omingo Magara, Charles Matoke, Alfred Akunga and Josiah Onyacha.

Otundo said if elected, her administration will prioritise accountability and transparency in the use of public funds.

“If elected I will ensure that corruption will be a thing of the past. I will ensure that taxpayers get value for their money,”she said.

In order to help farmers access markets for their produce, Otundo said that she will open new feeder roads and maintain existing ones.

On youth unemployment, Otundo pledged that her administration will encourage the youth to be innovative and help them access funds for development.

“In order to nurture talent, my leadership will come up with a theatre centre where the youth can showcase their talents,” she said.
