Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha says no examination paper has been leaked in the ongoing KCSE exams.

Magoha dismissed reports that some exam papers were leaked across various examination centres before the stipulated time.

“When I give you the assurance as the head of education sector in this country that the examination has not leaked, take it to the bank,” Magoha said.

He also said a leakage in an exam means the students have the exams way ahead of the process. This can be several days or even a month before, like it used to happen.

“We shall not allow any political narrative into the examination process. If there is a person doing this they should stop and allow us serve the children,” he said.

Magoha said they have banned cellphones in examinations centres and only two will be allowed for emergencies purposes.

Speaking while opening the exam containers at the Kisumu Central subcounty headquarters on Monday, the CS said the two phones will be those of centre manager and one of the officers.

On Sunday, Magoha announced new rules that will be applied immediately to curb cases of cheating in the examinations across the country.

The new rules include keeping gates wide open throughout the day’s examination hours to allow ease of monitoring of all processes.

Security officers must also sit at positions where they have a full view of the examination materials.

Also, the supervisors and invigilators must not take any time off from the examination rooms for any other activity while examinations are in progress.

The centre managers must not allow any unauthorised teacher or staff to hang around the precincts of the school compound during the examination season.

Magoha said only teachers handling practical subjects will be allowed in examination centres during the days the subjects are taken.

Regarding KCPE exams, Magoha said the marking of composition and insha scripts were almost complete, with the results expected to be out either late this week or early next week.
