Kapletundo High School has landed in a tough pool as the Bomet County Secondary Schools Term One 'A' games get underway at Longisa Boys High School on Thursday.
The Sotik sub-county school are in Pool 'B' alongside former giants Tenwek High School and new entrants Siongiroi Day.
Reigning champions Longisa Boys are expected to sail to the next round Kimulot High School their only rivals in Pool 'A'.
Kapletundo, coached by Patrick Rotich, are motivated by the fact that they defeated giants Kaplong Boys 55-17 during the Sotik sub-county games.
“Our neighbouring schools like Kamungei and Chebilat are tough in competitions like football. We cannot match them and we, therefore, decided to venture into rugby,” said Rotich.
He added that after introducing the game in 2018, the students have started embracing it and they normally attend training sessions even without the teachers.
Bomet County Secondary School Sports Association secretary Nicholas Kurgat said the two-day event will also feature basketball, handball, athletics, hockey and rugby 15s.
Kurgat, who is also a teacher at Kimulot High, said athletics, handball and basketball will be staged at Longisa while hockey and rugby will be played at Mulot.
