Striker Benson Omalla struck in stoppage time to hand the record champions a well-deserved 2-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks at Machakos stadium.

Alpha Onyango had fired K’Ogalo into the lead with a long-range effort in the 45th minute before Ghai Panchol netted in the 82nd minute to level the terms.

“Quite a deserved win today. There was everything to play for in this match because we were eyeing the top of the table,” McKinstry said.

“I am happy with the outcome. We managed to contain our opponents throughout the match and that speaks volumes about our current form. Hopefully, we shall be able to maintain the momentum in our subsequent assignments because every team we meet is determined to beat us,” he added.

Sharks coach William Muluya lauded his charges for putting up a valiant fight in the closely contested encounter.

“We could have easily emerged with a point from this match but a concentration lapse in the dying minutes cost us,” Muluya said.

“We are not giving up just yet. The team is gelling well and I’ve observed a lot of improvement since the competition began.”

“However, being13th on the log is a little bit worrying and we must work hard to be among the top 10 or even better,” Muluya said.

Meanwhile, Christopher Masinza’s 10th-minute effort was all Kakamega Homeboyz needed to beat Bidco United 1-0 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. The win has propelled Homeboyz to third with Bidco slumping down to 10th.

Sofapaka thumped Nzoia Sugar 3-1 at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.

Darius Msagha opened the floodgates in the 10th minute before Evans Osoro restored parity in the 60th minute.
