Football Kenya Federation has introduced mid-week fixtures to allow the Kenya Women's Premier League season to end on May 27 as opposed to mid-June as initially planned.

The move is geared towards identifying the team that will represent Kenya in the Cecafa club Champions League qualifiers set for Uganda in July.

Uganda will host the regional qualifiers for the first time with Kampala Queens having already booked their ticket.

Only the champions that will be crowned on May 27 will represent Kenya in the annual competition, with Gaspo Women and Vihiga Queens locked in a title battle at the top of the WPL standings. The duo has 37 points with five matches left.

The first mid-week fixtures will first be played on May 10-11 followed by the May 17-18 matches as teams are braced for bruising battles in the busy schedule.

The FKF Women's Cup semifinal matches are set for May 31 with the finals to be played four days later at a yet-to-be-known venue. The Cup finals were initially slated for July 2.
