Shabana's promotion hopes dented after defeat to SS Assad

The 3-1 loss was Shabana's heaviest defeat in the second-tier thus far.

National Super League log leaders Shabana's promotion hopes suffered a dent after a 3-1 defeat by SS Assad at Shamu Grounds in Kwale County on April 14.

It was Shabana's heaviest loss in the second-tier league so far.

Last weekend, Shabana dropped two points when they were held to a barren draw by visiting Silibwet FC at Gusii Stadium.

Kibera Black Stars, another side hopeful of promotion, also suffered a blow after losing 2-1 against Mombasa Elites at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.

Emmanuel Change and David Oduor were on target for the hosts while Asabu Stallone pulled one back for Kibera Black Stars.

Mara Sugar drubbed Coastal Heroes 3-1 to revive their promotion aspirations. 

Victor Ngume scored a double for Mara while Robert Obaga wrapped up the scores for the hosts.  Samson Karisa scored Coastal Heroes' consolation goal in the game that was played at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori County.

In matches scheduled for April 15, Kajiado FC will host  Migori Youth at Ildamat Stadium, Kajiado County while a rejuvenated  Silibwet will entertain Gusii FC at Bomet Stadium.

Gusii ended their six-game losing streak when they beat Kajiado FC 1-0 at Gusii Stadium last Sunday.

Promotion-chasing  Murang’a Seal hosts  Mully Children's Family at St.  Sebastian Park in Murang'a County hoping to cut Shabana’s lead at the top of the NSL log.
