The Kenya Volleyball Federation has extended the term of the current  National Executive Committee by three more months following an AGM held on Saturday at the Nyayo Stadium.

The term of the current office bearers was scheduled to end today.  The unanimous decision was informed by the fact that the application for county associations and clubs submitted to the Registrar of Sports was yet to be processed.

According to KVF,  the current officeholders are required to amend the constitution, assist county associations and clubs to register as well as ensure public participation.

"The AGM agreed that there was a need to amend the constitution further to align with the Sports Act as advised by the Registrar of Sports," a letter by KVF read in part.

" As advised by the Registrar of Sports, the registered county associations will have three interim officials eligible to vote. The top tier national league teams also have a representation  of three officials per team who will be eligible to vote."

The KVF secretary general, Ben Juma said the current KVF Constitution has a lot of loopholes that need to be addressed to ensure there will be a smooth transition going forward.

"The constitution does not meet the threshold of the 2013 Sports Act.  For example, the gender rule is an issue we must look into."

Charles Nyaberi and David Kilundo have declared their interest in the top seat while the national women's team coach Paul Bitok has shown interest in the deputy president seat.

Meanwhile, the women's league will resume on November 11 while the new season for their male counterparts is slated to kick off on December 9. The women's league has been on recess since May paving way for Malkia Strikers to attend a two-month High-Performance Training in Brazil prior to their participation in the World Championship in September.
