KCB fired up as Coop bank awaits in semis, reveals coach Kinga

Both the men’s and women’s Volleyball teams face off against Cooperative Bank in the last four

KCB volleyball coach David Kinga has admitted that his charges have what it takes to storm to the finals of the Kenya Institute of Bankers (KIB) competition. 

He, however, warned that first things first and they must win their semi-finals on Friday. 

Both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams face off against Cooperative Bank in the last four with a place in the finals to be held on Saturday at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies.

Speaking during the teams' training session at the Ruaraka Sports Club, Kinga said: “We know the weight of the challenge that awaits us on Friday and we are preparing the two teams appropriately to stun our opponents and qualify for the finals.”

This is the 36th edition of the annual Inter-banks competition. KCB  football team has already booked a slot in the football semi-finals having cruised past ABSA in a closely contested affair where the former won 1-0.

The chess team on the other hand currently sits third after garnering 31 points. Equity are leading the pack with 34 points while NBK are second with 33 points. The team will lock horns with DTB today in a crunch clash that will determine the winner of the tournament.

KCB tug-of-war team trounced all the opponents in the group stages. The team beat CBK 2-0 in their opening fixture and posted a similar score against post-Bank, and Agriculture Finance Corporation (AFC). They were also granted a walkover against DTB.

KCB are scheduled to play Housing Finance today before squaring it out with Stanbic Bank on Friday. The final showdown is scheduled for Saturday.
