Defending champions Butali Warriors face a back-breaking task against a reinvigorated Western Jaguars team in an action-packed Kenya Hockey Union Premier league weekend at the City Park Stadium.

Butali top the standings with 29 points from 11 matches while Jaguars, who have played two games less, are third with 16 points. Jaguars have won their last four matches, conceding just once.

The two sides shared spoils in a goalless draw in May in Kakamega but goals could be in plenty in Nairobi considering how ruthless Butali have been lately, scoring at least three goals in each of their last three matches.

Before the draw, Butali had won the last six meetings between the two sides, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

On Sunday, a depleted Kenya Police side will hope to return to winning ways when they confront Amira Sailors. The law enforcers, second on the log, will make do without Robert Masibo, Willis Okeyo and Sammy Oungo.

Masibo and Okeyo are currently on professional stints in Germany while Oungo is out injured.

Captain Victor Wekesa is set to return from an injury that saw him miss the 1-1 draw with Wazalendo early this month in what is a welcome boost for Patrick Mugambi's side.

After falling to Conrad Wafula's second-half goal in Kakamega against Jaguars last weekend, Strathmore Gladiators have a chance to storm the top-four, provided they get a result against a floundering Greensharks side.

Both sides have registered mixed results recently with Gladiators losing four of their last five matches as their promise early in the season faded off.

In the women's division, title favourites Strathmore Scorpions have a date with Sailors on Saturday. Experienced Scorpions attacker Gilly Okumu is certain of starting the game alongside the mercurial Grace Bwire.

Scorpions, are top of the table courtesy of an unbeaten start to the season, winning their opening five matches. Sailors, who also have a date with Wolverines on Sunday, remain winless.

Kisumu-based Lakers will have to rediscover their mojo and put inconsistencies aside when they face Sliders and Blazers. Lakers are yet to hit the ground running after garnering a paltry four points from their opening four matches.

In the women's Super League, Mombasa Sports Club take on Kenyatta University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology teams at their backyard. Newbies Nairobi Chapel face off Vikings.
