Butali Warriors team manager Victor Opere has attributed their Sunday's 2-0 win over Parkroad Badgers at the City Park Stadium to a tactical game plan.

Festus Onyango scored a second-half brace to give the Kenya Hockey Union Premier League defending champions their second win in three matches after several clear cut chances went begging in the opening two quarters.

"It was a good improvement from last weekend. The boys responded well to grind out the result. The game plan was to hold the ball and attack when necessary which was well executed by the players," Opere said.

Butali drew 2-2 with Police last time and needed a cautious approach to avoid dropping points.

Badgers coach Evason Alulu said they lost because of a lapse in concentration and defensive mistakes.

"We neutralised their threat in the first half but we switched off in the third quarter. Our final pass is wanting and we got punished because of minor mistakes," Alulu said.

"Back to the drawing board again. Attacking is our main concern. We have only scored once in two matches. Game management has been our main undoing.

“We led against Greensharks but conceded three quick fire goals to lose. We are still in the early part of the season but we need to get our act together,”Alulu said.
